Images go where PDFs cannot. You can paste a page into a presentation, attach it to a chat message that previews images but not documents, post it on social media, or put it on a web page without asking visitors to open a separate file.
Images are also a simple way to share a single page, such as a ticket, a floor plan or a chart, with someone who just needs to look at it.
How to do it
Open the PDF in the editor and click Convert in the top bar. Choose PNG images or JPG images and click Download. A one-page PDF downloads as a single image. A longer PDF downloads as a ZIP file with one image per page, numbered in order, so they sort correctly in any folder.
Any edits you made in the editor, such as text, signatures, highlights or redactions, are included in the images. Like everything on ClearwayPDF, the conversion happens in your browser and the file is not uploaded.
JPG or PNG?
Choose JPG for scanned pages and pages with photos. JPG files are much smaller, which matters when you send several pages or upload them somewhere with a size limit.
Choose PNG for pages with sharp text, line drawings, diagrams or screenshots. PNG keeps edges crisp without the faint blur JPG can add around letters, at the cost of larger files.
Things to keep in mind
Text in an image cannot be selected, searched or read aloud by screen readers. If the person receiving the page needs to copy text from it, send the PDF instead, or send both.
Pages are exported at about 144 dots per inch, which is sharp on screens and fine for printing a page or two. For high-quality printing of a whole document, the PDF itself is still the better choice.
